I asked a few questions in the other IE8 topic, but they kind of got lost in discussions of other features, anyway:

    1. Does the following stuff get imported from IE7:
Search providers for the search bar
    Favorites
    Settings
    Stored username/password combos
    add-ins like flash player

    2. Has MS addressed the issue of IE creating corrupted index.dat entries that never clear from history without the use of other programs (like CCleaner?) It's annoying visiting some page on google images once, and then for months after the history has automatically been purged still seeing the massive URL for the image pop up in autocomplete - that was my main problem with IE7/IE6 not counting IE7's habit of eating 100+ MB of RAM ever since I installed Windows Search 4...

    3. I've heard people saying Yahoo Mail and Facebook (and many other sites) are broken due to refusal to put the standard modes tag on their pages. Is this true, and if so, is it easily fixed with the compatability button?

    4. Is there a registry tweak to increase the max connections? I know the default in IE7 was 4, I downloaded a tweak to make it 16 but don't know what the actual registry key was.

    5. Can IE8 open .swf files without their being embedded on a page? IE7 originally could not for me, but I found a registry setting to make it able to do so.

Favorites in IE 6 and 7 are just links saved in a folder, they get imported into IE8 :)
    Search providers - not sure...
Add ons - I think so, at least my fingerprint sensor still works, free download manager still works (for large files)

And I think Adobe is still linked to IE8 (as it was to E7).

I can confirm that IE8 can open .swf files without them being embedded in a webpage. However unlike other video players IE8 does not allow you to fast forward or rewind the video but it will play.

    yes.

your OS? If Vista, why bother? tcp/ip connections are well handled by Windows itself. You might want to turn off IPV6 to speed up connections on "old" sites"

    cheers ...

Nope, still using XP here (see sig).

Also has MS said why IE8 doesn't have a new logo?

So you meant these registry entries?

    MaxConnectionsPerServer
    MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server

I have not seen any advantages in modifying these entries myself.

    cheers ...

Why would they need one? Firefox has been using the same icon for quite some time now. (And it's still awesome.) ;)

They changed the logo for 6 and 7, it would've made sense.

Well the Logo for 7 only really became more colourful from 6.
    6 light blue
7 different shades of blue and the "band" in yellow

Ok I can't deal with this mess. How do I uninstall IE8 and go back to IE7?
