downloaded the newer version but found it blocked out the use on some sites, sport videos. The minor improvements did not seem worthy of the problems so I went back to the older version. Did anyone else have similar problems?

"blocked out the use on some sites"?
    What do you mean?
It blocked popups? It didn't render pages correctly? It crashed?

i knoticed similar problems. i dont really use ie very much just tend to use firefox and opera. but the odd page works better with ie. so i thought id give it a whirl. went to a natinal radio stations site clicked on the listen now buttona nd wmp just hung. tried it on my laptop which still had ie6 no problems.
so uninstalled ie7 went back to ie6 played first time. so i ll be sticking with ff and opera as ive done for a while

One site offers free videos of NFL game highlights, I had no problems with IE6 but the new version just blocked it out. Pressing the video icon just brought a beep, went back to the older version with no problem. Security overdone?

I've never had a problem with IE7 blocking out webpages for me, how do you mean it's blocked? the site doesn't show up at all?

I have recently had the issue he's speaking of with WMP. I don't think it is an IE issue as much as WMP. My WMP has been locking up on certain kinds of wmv's and avi's. I haven't found a workaround yet, but they crash 100% in IE7, and about 65-70% in FF2 (same vids).

They have a small still picture of the game. You place the cursor on it, click , and the video is supposed to start. It works with IE6 but not with the IE7 version.

worked fine by me, IE7 under XP home and vista RC2

still, in this example, ff2 was running (loading) much faster, except for the main screen that was kind out of whack (the site is not java conformed???)

    cheers ...

Hmmm...maybe just a simple reinstall would help. Hopefully...

    luee,

Try resetting the browser to default settings...
Tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced-->Reset. This should put the browser back to its default state and hopefully it fixes the issue.

I think I will stay with IE6, the advantages of the newer version just do not seem that compelling to me. Thanx anyway.
