I seem to have done a newbie's versoin of a HDD format, please help. I ended up formatting even my recovery partition, with out realising how essential it was. Please suggest ways to get this partition back.

Contact _HP support and see if you can get a factory restore CD/DVD from them.

That I don't know, but they're the most likely to have something like that, although you might have to pay something for it.

Other than that, you might be able to try and recover the partition if, and I stress if, you haven't booted from that drive or otherwise used it since you formatted it. One possibility might be Active@Partition Recovery, though there are quite a number of other similar apps out there. Basically, so long as you haven't used the drive again since you formatted it, all of the data and structure should still be there on the drive as the standard .Windows format does little more than just erase the partition table. Still, don't get your hopes up too high, partition recovery is not a walk in the park.

EDIT: You should also probably read through this thread because it sounds like the original poster had a similar problem, and may have been able to recover from it.

Well, that all depends on whether you manage to get that partition back, doesn't it? :D Still, thanks for the comment, it is very much appreciated. :)
