I'm not all that fond of the superbar. I don't want my open applications mixed with my shortcuts.

    Here is what I did.

    - Right click everything that is pinned to the taskbar and unpin it.

    - Right click on the taskbar and click properties.
    - Check the box "Use small icons"
    - From the dropdown menu labelled "Taskbar Buttons", choose "Combine when taskbar is full" or "Never combine"

    - Open "Documents" and create a new folder called "Quick Launch"

    - Right click on taskbar, hover over "Toolbars" and click "New Toolbar..."
    - From the window, navigate to "Documents" and click on the Quick Launch folder.
    - Click "Select Folder"

    - Right click and unlock the taskbar. Move your quick launch back to where it should be.

    - Right click where it says "Quick launch" and uncheck "Show Text" and "Show Title"

Now you can copy shortcuts to your applications into quick launch again.

Thanks. I usually have 10 or so programs in the quick launch, and to have that many shortcuts scattered between open programs would not work out well.

BTW, here is a simple tweak to remove the "Send Feedback" on every window:

    • Start
    • Write "regedit"
    • Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
    • Search for the “FeedbackToolEnabled" key, and change de DWORD value to 0
    • Restart

You can still send feedback to microsoft, just use the Start Menu shortcut.

Here's another tip. It may seem strange at first, but try using setting your taskbar to be vertical across the left side of the screen. It doesn't look messed up anymore like it did for previous versions of Windows. Also you can take advantage of the extra height. It just seems more natural on a widescreen to use than a horizontal taskbar. Use it like this for a day and you will have converted :)

Try a shutdown instead of a reboot. I think that I've had problems getting the taskbar to remember settings once before.

Thats what i meant really. After i have made my settings and shut down the computer when i start it up later the settings are back to default, I've given up trying! Also in the system tray there is an option to remove stuff but if i do its back when i use my computer later.

well i works now! I think it was after i activated an admin acount by typing net user administator /active:yes into an elevated comand promt, It worked but I then turned it off by typing the same but with no at the end and when i rebooted my quick launch now remembers its setting and stays.
