I am thinking of buying a new HP dv8. The problem is that it comes with no added software. There is a software I really like: the Cyberlink DVD suite. Is it possible transfer it from my current dv7 to the new laptop using the recovery discs?

That depends on what the recovery discs are--on a forum like this people use that term for everything from image based discs to actual installation discs.

Drop the discs into your computer and look through the folder heirarchy. Are there folders? Application setup files? Or are there large files that seem unreadable?

These questions are only possible to answer if one has the discs in one's hand

HP usually has the installed programs in a directory. Save this directory (SWSetup?) to an external HDD or burn into a DVD and load from there.
