Hi. My laptop has an integrated microphone (SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio).
I have an external microphone with a 3.5 jack. When I plug it in, Windows, instead of displaying two microphones, displays only the external one, but also recognizes it as SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio.
Is there a way to separate these two microphones?
Note: When I use an USB adapter, Windows recognizes both mics. But I'm trying to know if it's possible to find a solution without using an adapter.
BTW, I'm using Vista Ultimate x64.

It will be tough with devices sharing one physical port signal - thus the recognition when using the usb adapter, OS now sees 2 ports.
cheers ... -
I think SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio refers to your internal audio adapter (i.e. sound chip), not any particular microphone. So, anything plugged into your microphone or speaker ports, plus the built in mic & speakers, will probably be recognized as that.
Your USB adapter is a separate adapter with its own sound chip, so that's why Windows sees it as a separate audio device. -
I see. Thanks.
How to make Integrated and 3.5 jack Microphones distinct? (without using USB)
