Do you have your chipset drivers installed?
-
-
-
Im pretty sure in installed all the drivers when I reformated my computer. I had a Drivers and Utility disk with Asus and installed everything needed.
-
I would double check in Device Manager for any unknowns......
-
What does it show in Device Manager for Processors?
-
No unknowns and it shows my processor under device manager:

That's weird, do you have the latest bios for your laptop?
If you want, you can change it in the registry, might be a good idea to see what it says there
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\CentralProcessor\0 and \1
It should be populated by what Device Manager -> Processors is showing. -
I just upgraded my Bios. Even before the update, it wasnt showing
-
Done a Windows update lately?
Just noticed, you don't even have an option for windows experience index. -
Um up no current updates for my windows
-
Does it show up in the task manager as available RAM? Chances are there is a problem with the WMI provider that the system uses to query that information. It's not a serious problem, but some searches about fixing WMI should help you figure it out.
-
Tried searching for WMI but found nothing that could help me really.

Do you have AOL Instant Messenger installed? That is the root cause of this issue. I'd recommend you switch to something better like www.pidgin.im, but anyways here fix information...

Assuming he has AIM 6.5 and that was the problem he could also use AIM "classic" or 5.9. Here's that download.
