Click on the tune, right click, covert audio format.

With WMP 11- if you are ripping goto tools then options and click rip music and change setting.
If you have MP3 on your computer and want to change use another software.
I like Blaze Media Pro. You can use db power amp for free.

Just say "no" to transcoding. It'll kill the quality of the audio ;) Is there a reason you're transcoding an mp3 to wma?

I thought it was the other way around. I thought MP3's were smaller than wma...maybe I was thinking of something else.

WMA are smaller, but not by much. The space you save definitively wouldn't be worth the quality you lose converting lossy codec to lossy codec. And WMA aren't compatible with as many things; you'd be better of sticking with mp3 IMO.

Yes, to re-iterate, I can't see any real benefit to converting MP3s to WMA format

And if you did care about SQ, you'd
    a) Do it from scratch from audio CDs
    b) Keep WAV copies of CDs for storage and future needs - so therefore you can convert from WAV to the lossless or lossy format you want

That is only if you care :p

Not necessarily true. Depends on what ripping software you are using. I do not know if WMP 11 has the new 255 kbps - 360 kbps VBR setting. But I do know "Easy CD-DA Extractor" has a setting called '.wma windows media audio 9.2/11 VB Quality 98 stereo'. I have been very impressed with it, it does a lot better than a 320 kbps mp3 encoded in lame.

I think it also has the ability to convert audio files from one format to another. I would suggest staying away from that though if possible.
