Hi i run windows xp pro on my laptop and am getting really frustrated with that extra step of after i want to use my laptop while its in sleep i open the lid it powers on automatically and then "displays the welcome screen" (part i want to get rid of). I don't use a windows password so i don't see why i need this extra step of having to click on my user name and then it showing me my desktop (or wherever i left off.) and it will save me a little time. Not much but a little. :p

Please let me know if you know how to get rid of it.
    Thanks!

Can't you just press enter instead of clicking on your username?

I'm note sure how you do this on XP (been using vista for too long now..), but it's probably not possible if you have more than one user account on the computer.

Go to Power Settings (you can get there by right-clicking on the desktop and going to the screensaver settings, and clicking the button below the screensaver settings). Then untick "Prompt for password on resume" (or something like that; I forgot what it says in XP).
