I've decided to re-install Windows 7 in order to partition the HDD, but the setup process doesn't offer an option to set my own partitions. Am I missing something? I can't see how because there aren't many options, the installer wants to do everything for you (typical Microsoft). Is there another version of the installer that allows for partitioning? Otherwise I'll have to install without partitions and then use GParted to edit the partitions, but is there a way around this?

I don't think that W7 RC1 allows partitioning. Maybe when the full version comes out.

Thanks, thought this might be the case. It's funny, because if you click on the instructions before starting installation, it says if you click on the advanced features button in the partition-selection screen it will allow you to partition, but there's no option when you get there. Well, guess I'll be using GParted.

You have to create a new partition, and you can do it. It's just not intuitive or easy at all (manually type in partition sizes, no graphical interface). I can't remember the exact buttons, but I do know for a fact that it's possible.
