I had 85 updates downloaded for my other laptop and because I was in a hurry to go somewhere, I had to cancell the installations and turn off the laptop. I can see all the items in the update manager but how do I re-install them?

Assuming that the Updates that are the right ones for one computer are also the right ones for another computer, can't you re-download them from your other computer? If not, there may be some help for you in the 'Frequently Asked Questions' section in the Update Center, if you can identify the names of those downloaded Updates. Even if you can't, you can still get this computer up to date with its own Updates by following the normal downloading instructions:
DID YOU CANCEL THE INSTALLATION PROCESS OR DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET? Just check for updates again and install any updates that were cancelled or interrupted.
I HID AN UPDATE BUT NOW I WANT TO INSTALL IT.
You need to restore the update to the list of updates that Windows can offer, and then install it. Here's how:
Click to open Windows Update.
In the left pane, click Restore hidden updates.
Select the update that you want to install, and then click Restore. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Windows will automatically check for updates, and then prompt you to install the update that you restored and any new updates that might be available.
HOW CAN I TELL IF MY COMPUTER IS UP TO DATE?
Your computer is up to date when you've installed the latest updates for Windows and your programs. To check for Windows updates, follow these steps:
Click to open Windows Update.
In the left pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer.
If any updates are found, click Install updates. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
