It seems to become a darker shade when I open Firefox but when I close it, the taskbar becomes more of a grey instead of the deep black.

How can I make it so the color stays a deep black?

Would giving a higher priority to Explorer in the taskmanager do the trick?

    Transparency is off.
Color is graphite with intensity maxed out.

Increase the color instensity thru right click>personalize> windows color and appearance. You can turn off aero too.

Not the best advice, but I think this is one possible solution:
    Black wallpaper, transparency on.
Maybe you could even try painting the bottom of your existing wallpaper black. Remember to have a back up if you end up doing that.

Yep, that’s the best (only??) way to do it without turning off Aero or transparency.

Argh why did they make it so that startbar changes colors. What a dumb idea.

Thank you for your help though.
