    i have vista 32bit and currently the HD is set to work as IDE in bios. I wan't to know if there are any performance advantages in running AHCI mode and how do I it? a little guide will be helful please :eek:

    There is not, its just a software interface.

    There may be an option in your BIOS, if not then i dont think you will be able to activate it if its not active by default. My laptop runs AHCI permanently (which is a serious pain if you try to install XP, since it doesnt have SATA drivers). Be warned, if you dont have the correct drivers for you SATA controller installed you will make your hard drive inaccessible until you turn AHCI mode off.

    i do have the option in the bios to change to ahci but if i select that option, it won't boot to windows.

    I guess if there is no performance difference, i might as well avoid the trouble.
