For all you people who are gonna buy the new NVME SSDs and want to run Windows 7 (as you bloody well should, screw 10), I came across this on reddit and I figured you all might use it.

PLEASE NOTE. THIS IS NOT PIRACY. I AM NOT LINKING TO A PIRATED COPY, NOR AM I ADVOCATING PIRACY. It is an UN-CRACKED version of the OS which will simply need a key... it simply has the updates including the hotfix for NVME in it. It should be in compliance with the rules.

HERE is the original post I found.
HERE is the direct link to the download page for the torrent.

ditto! I'll do it myself using my genuine Win 7 Pro Disc :) Thanks for the link

BTW, if I apply this hotfix to my ISO, does that mean I would be able to install Windows 7 on my M2 RAID 0 NVME 950 PRO SSDs?

Someone told me that if I want to do RAID with these drives I have to install Windows 10, would this remedy the problem or not?

I am lost at step 5:

What driver files? From where do I get them?

Or I guess they meant this?
    Samsung NVMe Driver Installer

    http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/global/html/support/downloads.html

EDIT: No luck there, the NVME Driver is an EXE file. I tried to run it then checked my temp files but it didn't copy anything there and the installation stopped since I don't yet have the laptop with the 950 PRO. Also, extracting the EXE using 7-Zip just gives me a bunch of folders with unknown CRC files :(

Heres how to extract the .exe file using 7-zip, you have to extract the exe to the same file then it copies all files in the .exe to another folder, then open it up and copy the files you wanted, you take these files and make it back into an .exe file.

    Cheers

I link an ISO and we're now creating a new ISO.

And this isn't in my "created threads".

    NBR is weird today

Yeah I know how to do that man, but the files/folders it extracts are not the actual driver files, try for yourself:

    Damn straight.

Anybody have a method for integrated updates and hotfixes so I don't have to install 200 of them on a fresh install?

I created the ISO successfully integrating the Samsung 950 PRO NVME Driver :) for Windows 7 All Edition x64

Basically I took my genuine Windows 7 Pro disc, removed the eif.cg file to unlock the ISO so it installs any edition of Windows (Home, Pro, Ultimate) then applied the steps in the guide octiceps linked :)

Nice work, nvme passes up sata 3 bus limits, which samsung has mostly saturated, M2 is along the same line as nvme using pcie lanes to remove bus line limits of current Sata,, Sata 4,5,6,n is possible if they do the chip work

a little background, I used 7-zip and got the same files as you did, I then tried Universal Extractor at legroom.net and got the same files with added item-it said the files appeared to be in a Inno setup, I downloaded Innoextractor and bingo this is what samsung used.

    from Havysoft

InnoExtractor is a powerful application that helps you to unpack Inno Setup installers using InnoUnp technology.

With InnoExtractor you can explore the internal structure and content of the installer and you can to extract them to a local folder or a portable devices, without having to run the setup.

It just goes to show that packing files in a .exe file type or other file can be done by simple to complex compression algorithms and added tic -tocks -like setup features particular to each maker of the setup file, this why 7-zip and uni extract could not get to the files.

Hey. I'm a total newb at this stuff. I was wondering if you followed Method 1 or Method 2 of the Windows 7 Hotfix guide that Octiceps posted. Method 1 talks about installing a Windows ADK for Windows 8.1 update (why? the hotfix is for Windows 7), and I don't understand Method 2.

If possible, can you outline the exact steps you followed please? That would be a great help.

ALERT: The KB2990941 hotfix may cause BSODs after installation (on some configs). Obtain KB3087873 hotfix as well and integrate both KB2990941 & KB3087873 patches into a new W7 ISO image.

FWIW, I went through this last week to install Win 7 on an XPS 13 9350. I ended up having to follow this guide.

    Some notes:
    • I also downloaded the Win 7 driver cab file from Dells support ftp site, extracted that, and included all the drivers when repacking the installer using NTlite.
    • The copy/pasted section below has a few errors
      • You need to replace both boot.wim and setup.exe from Win10 to 7 in step 5.
      • At step 6, I used NTlite to make a new ISO with the hotfix and my drivers integrated. Then I used the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool to make a bootable USB installer from the customized ISO.
    What you need:

    Windows 7 SP1 x64.iso

    Windows 10.iso

    Microsoft hotfix https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2990941

    NTlite https://www.ntlite.com/download/

First request and download the hotfix, e-mail arrives instantly with a link.

    1. Download and install NTlite (or other similar you prefer)

    2. Extract the Windows 7.iso to a folder.

If you are installing in UEFI mode, check efi/boot there should be a bootx64.efi. If not grab it from a current installation of Windows 7 x64. C:\Windows\Boot\EFI\bootmgfw.efi copy/paste and rename it to bootx64.efi.

    3. Using WinRAR or 7-zip extract the Microsoft hotfix.exe file.

    4. Run NTlite and open the iso folder.
You will see 2 folders your current windows and 2nd the iso folder open and choose the version you want to install, home, ultimate etc. and press load, or right click load. It takes sometime..

4.1 Go to updates and add package file. Add the extracted hotfix Windows6.1-KB2990941-v3-x64.msu
(for experienced users: you can add more updates if you want to avoid downloading the huge list of updates everytime you install windows 7 important to keep install.wim under 4GB due to UEFI/fat32 limitation)

Go to post-setup and add command
    1st field type reg
    2nd field : "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main"
    /v DisableFirstRunCustomize /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

(this step is required because sometimes customized installs of Windows cause the IE to show the welcome screen everytime you open it.)
(the above not required after all, it affects the installation only if you add an updated version of IE)

4.2 Go to Apply press Start and wait to finnish.
When it's done close NTlite and go to iso folder and open sources folder.
    Delete boot.wim and setup.exe

    5. Open Windows 10.iso with winrar and extract the boot.wim to your sources folder of Windows 7.

    6. Copy all contents of iso folder of Windows 7 on a usb drive.

Plug, boot and install Windows 7 !!!
