Running 2 OS, XP and Vista. The audio in XP works fine but I get nothing on Vista.

Went to HP to download the audio driver, installed, and still nothing. I do have the audio control on the taskbar, but I just don't have any sound coming from the speakers.

Again, I have sound on XP so I know it's not my speakers.

I'm guessing this is on your laptop? Which laptop do you have? What sound card does it have?

This probably won't help but...Wife downloaded Pack 1 for Vista Home yesterday and it shut off the sound as part of the installation. Sounds like you checked the obvious but recheck. Also check if there is an update pack for Business.

Yes, its for the HP DV1000 laptop. I've check to see if it was muted, but it isn't.

Also, a lot of the HP quicklaunch buttons aren't working near the top of the laptop. They're not lighted up as usual. The control to turn on/of wifi, adjust sound, and quickplay isn't working. Even after installing the drivers... hmm.

I will see if HP would help me out.

Also, when installing some HP drivers at the site, I get a pop up message saying I need to do something in the "USER CONTROL PANEL" or something? Whats that?

Did SP1 appear in Windows Update, or did you download the installer package and install it right away?

That's pretty vague... What exactly does the message say?

Ok, Installed all the original drivers from HP website and still no luck. None of the quicklaunch HP buttons above the keyboard works. Sound still doesn't work even though the control panels says "Device is working properly".

I guess this is why Vista Sucks?
