Hi guys, I've just purchased an external condenser microphone for for piano recording purposes but I'm struggling to get it to work on my main laptop. The microphone comes with a separate phantom power supply. Once I've got everything set up, I plugged the microphone into my Asus G51Jx and there was absolutely no sign of activity from the microphone. I then proceeded to try this on my 6 year old Dell Inspiron 6000 and again, nothing happened. Lastly, I tried this on a Toshiba Qosmio X505 and unexpectedly the microphone worked. This is great but I would like to figure out why the microphone didn't work on the Asus.

    Anyone have any ideas why?

try rebooting after its plugged in and set up.
