    Hi,

Just got a new laptop today - Sony SZ model but have a problem.

On Vista Business there seems to be a grey box telling you if wireless, bluetooth, lan or skype is on and I CANNOT get rid of it!!! It is always brought to the front whether I am gaming, typing, on this forum!

Can anyone please tell me how to get rid of it as I am exasperated after trying everything I can think of

    Thanks

    Graeme

Can you post a screenshot of the 'grey box'

If not, then it may be a Sony program that came preinstalled rather than Windows itself. You should be able to disable it by running "msconfig" and getting rid of whatever Sony startup program is doing that. Alternatively, you can try going in to Mobility Center in the Control Panel... there's a chance the program might have some options you can set in there.

Download the Autoruns Utility, run it, then go to the logon tab, uncheck anything there that seems fishy. That should solve your problem.
