    Have a gateway ML6703 with Vista. Don't want Vista! Tried to install XP loaded 82801GBM SATA AHCI with F6 during install off of USB floppy, but set up still doesn't see hard drive??????

    You'll need to slipstream the drivers into your XP disk. Get nLite, and it'll get the job done.

    You need to look up the ICH7R Sata Controller Drivers...that might help you. Where did you get the 82801GBM drivers from?

    Just FYI, but you have the Intel GML943 chipset.

    I got the driver from intels website under the 943GML chipset.

    It shouldn't make a difference if its slipstreamed or loaded off my USB floppy, will it??

    Problem is it won't work after its installed from the floppy. i do the F6 thing, Press S select the driver from the USB Floppy, it installs. I then continue the set up and it fails to detect the HDD and I have to F3 to get out.

    I'm wondering if the 943GML drivers will not work with XP. Is it possible that Intel an MS made a deal we don't know about. Has anyone ever seen the 943GML run XP???
