    Hello

I am getting the following message on most of the machines we have here, when users log in: Windows script host, can not find c:\windows\system32\regedit.sys

I was looking at thread 447811 and this appears to be similar. I can't open task manager, (if i try i get the above message) there is no regedit.sys file, if i run a virus scan it appears to be ok. I followed the thread and ran hijack this on my pc and got the following results.
( background, Ive just started her and I believe they had major virus issues before. Almost every pc on the network has this, should I be running hijack this on my pc or the server, since all are the same?)

Hopefully someone out there can help me- thank you

IT says that i should restore HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wscsvc

however I can not access regedit - any other way I can restore with out going to the registry screen?? ( can't open this or task manager, gives the above error)
I have an export from a clean machine of the wscsvc folder

Umm, there are so many variants of virii and not having any major virus/malware trouble myself I'm not sure what would be your best course of action.

If it were me I'd probably look at booting on uninfected media such as a CDROM or different partition/disk and running anti-virus from there. For instance Avira do a free CDROM ISO but idk how good or bad it is.

IIRC some of the older Virii use to make a file called regedit.com so by typing just regedit under run or cmd window that would get executed instead of regedit.exe. Try typing the whole file name including the .exe extension, ie regedit.exe. I hope it sorts your problem but I wouldn't like to put money on it.
