Basically, i'm trying to update my phone, but to be able to do this i need to install a driver. When i plug my phone in normally (for file transfer etc) via usb all works ok. No here is when i get the issue, to be able to flash/update my phone i have to plug it in via usb and hold c at the same time, vista then goes to install the drivers for semc usb flash, but to no avail, i have the drivers myself, so i go to manually install them but it won't recognise them. I have 64 bit digitally signed drivers but it won't even recognise them, ironically it will recognises 32 bit ones but cannot install them as they are 32 bit drivers.

I've tried installing xp (32 bit) in virtualbox, was ok at first drivers installed etc, but it keeps giving me bsod while using usb in virtualbox.

Any suggestions, is there any way of using 32 bit drivers in vista 64 bit. Any way of forcing vista to recognise the 64 bit drivers.

Edit: Forgot to say the phone is a Sony Ericsson K770i

hmm Try disabling Driver Signature Verification in Vista and then try to install them

VirtualBox has 64bit version too , install it and install a 32bit XP

I've disabled the Driver Signature Verification but has no effect. Also, I have Virtualbox 64 bit version. Thanks for the advice anyway.

This is the error i get when trying to install drivers for SEMC USB Flash

I've downloaded the drivers from various locations including sony ericsson, and also delved into the installation files and dug out the drivers from there but no success.

    Any more ideas???

64bit drivers are probably for XP not Vista.

Try installing the drivers through the Device Manager.

    Wohoooooooooooo..I've done it.

Found this German sony ericsson user website, which had a program which basically installed a bundle of drivers. At last, through hours of google bashing, and head banging frustration, i've done it.

    Cheers anyway guys.

Are you having problems installing your phone as a flash device.

I'll try and find the site, might take me a little while though.

To install sony ericcson phone semc usb flash device, download this file:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?22tz2jzwl1g

Run the file, setup may take a couple of minutes, but don't exit it, just wait for it to finish. Then, plug your phone into the computer whilst holding the C button, then Vista will automatically install the drivers. All done.
