    Hello,

I have a new Toshiba Satellite with vista which I purchased for travel. I also acquired a neat little Sipix pocket printer a6 specifically for printing boarding passes and avoiding the evils of the hotel "business centers."

Sadly, Sipix needs infrared or serial port.

    Toshiba only has USB ports.

    Purchased Infrared USB adaptor.

NOW, discover Sipix only works with SP or lower systems. No Vista driver to be found.

Question: How deadly is it to install another OS just to run printer?

Any advice sincerely appreciated. Am not willing to give up this "anti business center" battle just yet!

    thanks,

    Pamelaviolet

Installing XP is not the hardest part, finding all the device drivers for XP could turn out to be more difficult IF your Toshiba is very new and use uncommon devices that are only officially supported under Vista. Check the Toshiba download section to see if your computer has XP drivers.

Did you try to manually install the XP driver under Vista? Because, some times for simple devices like Printers XP driver might work.

I did not try to install the XP driver, although I did put in the driver disk before I realized it didn't contain a vista driver. Vista refused to go farther, so that's where I stopped.

Elsewhere someone suggested I try installing an XP driver though, but I haven't attempted this yet before getting more input.
