With just my luck the answer would be no.

Ok here's the deal. I'm current with all my updates. I go online and start typing when all of a sudden my cursor jumps to somewhere on the page or even worse stuff on the page gets deleted.

It's happened on two separate computers. The most current is a 3 month old Dell Laptop which is babied. It sounds like it's a keyboard problem but I don't buy that because I have never spilled any liquids on the keyboards. Also the problem is intermittent. It hasn't happened while typing this message which makes it sound like i'm making things up. I guess it's time to call the Ghost Busters. ;)

Are you sure your palm isn't accidentally touching the touchpad or hitting a trackpoint.

Most likely your palm or thumb is accidentally touching the touchpad (it is a common thing). If you have a Synaptics touch pad and the Synaptics touch pad driver already installed, then there is an option called PalmCheck, enable that. You can download the driver from support.dell.com or from Synaptics.com

u r not alone in this. i finally drop the blame on myself and when possible, using an external REAL keyboard ... or be careful, not to hold down the shift key for a long period of time when typing in capital letters - combination keys that are what making me stump most of the time

    cheers ...

Thanks everyone for your input...ouch no pun intended. :D

It's weird because what has already been mentioned makes perfect sense. On the other hand I have a habit of typing without touching the palm rest area because i'm not the fastest typer, but maybe I am without realizing it. I'll be on the lookout for this if it happens in the future.
