Hi I have had my Dell XPS15 for a couple of months and my 500GB HD is almost full.

All i do is play Battlefield and a couple of games and do work on it, i havent downloaded loads of films or anything and am concerned that i have got over 400GB used?

Can anyone help me figure out what is taking up all of this space!!!

    Any help is appreciated!
    Ash

Ok just to say i downloaded OverDisk and it shows that my users folder "Ash" is 318GB

The biggest folder in this is Videos which is 13GB

So why does it say the user Ash say it is 318GB in size?

A good place to start is SYSTEM RESTORE , if you are using it see this article on how to clear it
    Delete a restore point

Also run disk cleanup - bring up the run command (win Key and R)
Type in cleanmgr.exe and press enter

Let us know if these help, but I noticed your last post - 318 is HUGE, mine is a little over 1 GIG.

I will try both, also if they dont work you reckon making a new user account, transferring user files and deleting old one should do the trick?

Really good idea ASH-K, you may have to reinstall some programs if they create folders within that directory. That was going to be my next suggestion

dont feel stupid mate as its always worth posting to help others out in the future.
i was going to say that the last time i done a thorough clean up using tune up utilities it found i had 38gb of old system restore points. so there are lots of things like fraps that store huge amounts in the background that you cant see unless you do a thorough check.

Glad you got it cleaned up. Going forward, here's a great tool that I use and put on friend's PCs when they run into similar disk space problems. Disk Scanner
