    Had to restore Win7

    Today I opened my laptop, and Win7 couldn't start. I had to restore it. What are possible causes?

    By restore it you mean repair it or re-install it?

    Probably repair. Just normal restoration to some point from 1-2 days ago.

    How did you restore to a previous point with the windows unable to start?.Probably was caused by a bad driver,or a virus.More likely a bad driver.

    Well, Win ACTUALLY started, but I couldn't see start, or icons...

    Improper shutdown, problem installing certain windows updates, or just a magical windows fairy that put some bytes in the wrong places

    And this is why you should do a bootable backup disc. I had a MBR problem once and unfortunately I didn't have a bootable disc. I ended up reinstalling everything.

    Or even better, once you have a cleanly installed system in exactly the way you want it, do a complete system snapshot using programs like Acronis True Image or Drive Snapshot.
