Can anyone tell me how to activate, or more precisely deactivate, the blue key function on my laptop? It's not the function key, unfortunately. I inadvertantly hit some keys while I was in an IM program, and now I can't change it back, but only in the IM windows. Thanks in advance for any clues you may give me!

Usually there is no need of special utility for these blue keys to work, so it may be built in to the system. Check BIOS to see whether these can be disabled.

Update: It is a Canadian laptop, and it appears the blue keys are french, if that helps.

    Can anyone help with this

VERY frustrating for HP Canadian Laptop owners.

Just bought a new HP note book, and the blue function type keys are locked in use, meaning i can`t use question mark and other vital keys. Instead I get french accented letters, which share the same keys, written in blue on the keys physically.

anyone know how to turn it off

I can`t believe hp doesn`t have this in the faq or help on the notebook itself.

    UPDATE:

    DAMN IT!

I figured it out on my own. Gawddamn HP helpline was useless. they tried to tell me to unistall drivers, mess with the bios... It's a brand new lap top!

I said for gawd sakes there has to be a way to press some keys to turn it off...

    No help.

Anyway, as I found this thread in the 1st google search i did regarding the problem, AND it happened to a guy originally, I'm guessing its a somewhat common problem.

To turn on and off Bilingual blue keys:

Hit Ctrl + Shift + shift

(yes, both shift keys at the same time in addition to ctrl)

and that turns on and off the Canadian bilingual blue keys on HP lap tops.

    So not impressed with HP.
