Probably a really "blonde" question here...

It is possible to install HP Quickplay on an HP desktop?

I love it so much on my laptop and was wondering if I can get it for my PC as well?

There are no blonde questions - only the one that isn't asked.

I've seen quite a few blonde ANSWERS around here, but that's different.

It would be great to know your desktop's info - if you know either the Product # or the complete model series it would help. Product # preferably, and what O/S and version you're using with it. Also, are you wanting to use it just for standard media playback, or did you want it for Blu-Ray?

Installing it is one thing - getting it to work is another. QuickPlay was designed primarily for use on HP Notebooks.

Your Elite Desktop is one of the newer HP Business Desktops, and as such has its own custom, specific software for playing media. If it had been an old desktop without a specific HP program for media playback, then it might have been possible, but the Elite uses HP DVD Play BD 2.4 & Cyberlink's DVD Suite 5. Also, your configuration indicates you've got a BD burner installed, and QuickPlay wasn't designed for BD burners.

Trying to install it is either going to not work at all, or work and cause problems, neither of which you want. I haven't seen the new program you're using for media playback, but knowing HP, I'd be surprised if they didn't come up with a version of QP or something like it for desktops at some point.

What are you looking to get out of the HP quickplay?
Speed? -use the sleep option in vista and it wakes up faster than hp quick play starts up.
    Interface?
Windows Media Center offers pretty slick interface as well

I think there is a way to get HP QuickPlay installed on the desktop... but will require editing your registry .. and may be against the ULA

    but check it out here
