My CPU doesn't seem to throttle when on battery. Just stays at the lowest power state. When on power, everything is fine. Somethings wrong. I have never seen it do this before. I just did a fresh install a week or 2 back. Its been plugged in all the time. And i have never seen it behave like this before while on battery!

I dont know if i posted this on the rite place or not. Sorry if i didnt.

    Pls Help! :(

I have. All the latest ones.

I just went back to v9.1.1.1020 of the Intel Chipset driver, and its working now. Maybe i Didnt install the driver properly? Dont know. Gonna stick with this one though.

I know that the Envy's are locked the same way. It's due to a limitation in the amount of power the battery can provide, apparently, and it's a BIOS effect that you can't change. Have you updated your BIOS lately?

The BIOS i have is F13A.

Like i said before, reverting to previous version of Intel Chipset Driver seems to have fixed it. CPU throttles properly when on battery now, and doesn't get stuck at 1x multiplier.

Just curious. If HP updated the BIOS for the Envy's, would the problem for them be fixed? Or is there a hardware limitation, that cant be changed, without upgrading the battery?

Hi guys. I didnt want to creat a new thread since i had previously started this one.

The problem I mentioned in the first post is still present. I thought reverting to Chipset driver v9.1.1.1020 fixed the problem. But apparently, it hasn't. :(

The CPU is always at 1x multiplier when on battery. And it doesn't seem to throttle. I am alware using the 'Balanced' power plan. Even chaning power plans while on battery, dosen't help.
I have run various battery tests, and they all say the battery health is fine. Can't seem to figure out if its a hardware problem or a driver problem.

    Any help pls?

    Much appreciation.
    Arjun Ned.

This may be a dumb question, but have you made sure that your CPU is set to throttle down in Advanced Power Settings?

I had to manually set mine to max out at 50% when on Balanced.

I have checked and double checked all settings, and they are at what they should be. :(

I just installed Ubuntu 10.04, and am not facing the throttling issues. So i guess it has something to do with the Chipset drivers. I'll wait for new versions to come out and see if they fixed he problems.
