    Warning for everyone hating change (like me :p)...

    This now installs into your profile directory (%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\) and includes that annoying Google Updater thing even if you grab the direct download URL for the full installer and only run that.

    Killing the process, deleting the autorun entry, scheduled task and for good measure the entire updater subfolder seems to have shut it up so far.

    I totally agree with this, as it's an extra thing running in the background doing absolutely nothing but pinging home every once in a while. It would be better to have the application check for an update on startup rather than something separate for it.

    The most notorious "auto-updater" is Adobe's updater... which annoys you once in a while that "you haven't checked for an update in x days", and pops in your face about it when you least expect it.

    Sorry, just had to vent there a little. :D

    Try CCLeaner Autostart - but can't you unistal google update?
    I thik it was at least, a separate program.

    Yeah but the downloading thing irritates sometimes.
