Intermittently, but with increasing frequency, I encounter the message "missing plug-in" on internet sites with video content (ex. CNN, ESPN, Youtube). The "missing plug-in" message appears in place of the video. The message is non-linked and clicking it does not lead to the proper plug-in. Currently the only effective method I know is to reboot the PC and re-open the browser and re-access the internet sites. I have visited the Adobe Flash site, but could not find the appropriate plug-in for Google Chrome; the non-IE browser plug-in identified by Adobe is for Gecko-based browsers, such as Firefox. (Google Chrome is a Webkit-based browser.) I also checked the Google Chrome help forums, but to no avail. One user provided a URL to purportedly the correct plug-in for Google Chrome, but it did not work for me.

The worst-case scenario is I simply keep rebooting the PC when the "missing plug-in" message appears in place of video content, but this is a tedious process to repeat often. I'd appreciate any suggestions for a more stable and permanent solution.

Thank you for reading and any information.

Chrome is known to have problem with flash, maybe the best course of action is google and try the dozens of "solutions" available out there.
From the top of my head...write about :plugins in a tab, check if you have multiple flash plugins install, if you do disable all the old versions and leave the most current one unabled then restart the browser.

Chrome installs Flash by default, and updates it itself... you don't have to do anything. (And I have no problems with it.)

Make sure your copy of Chrome is up-to-date though. You can always uninstall and reinstall.
