According to CNET.com, you can buy legitimate OEM version of Vista for much cheaper than retail. You cannot, however, get a version of Vista for free legitimately. :)

Am well... I read through the OEM license agreement and essentially it said that the OEM version of Vista is tied to your motherboard. So you can replace any of the other parts of your comp but the OEM must stay with your original Motherboard. I think there are provisions if the Motherboard fries though.

By the way its not a bad price but you can get it from a more reputable dealer for the same price.

Basically once you install it on a computer its going to stay on that computer. You cant decide to uninstall it of your notebook and put it on say-your desktop and put Vista premium on your notebook. Once an OEM is installed on a Computer it stays on that computer.

You can transfer license to a new PC

But you must delete OS from PC A before activating it on PC B

MB means motherboard. Once you install and activate OEM it sends specific hardware signatures to M (Microsoft). So therefore your product key ties with your motherboard. You can upgrade any other component except the motherboard.

No you would need to purchase an additional license. I know that with non OEM Vista if you purchase the full version you can get additional licenses for like $50 each, but I doubt that is the case with the OEM version.
