lately ive been getting hard disk temperature warning balloons in the right hand corner of my screen warning me about the temperature reaching 55c, is this a normal temperature for a hard disk to be operating at?

also i looked in notebook hardware control (ive attached the image), especially at the hard disk section as i was a bit intrigued noticed one of the rows was in red and said "ERROR" is this good? should i be worried?

    Please Help!

A while back, HP used to build notebooks (ze1230) that nominally ran HDs at 55-65 oC and those did not report unusual number of HD failures. I think, 45-55 oC is not a big problem in itself. But in current notebooks, 30-40 oC would be more usual.

You might need to clean up the vents (using compressed air or disassembling+brush), which needs to be done annually anyway.
