I just bought a Gateway P-6860FX laptop. When I reformatted it, everything works, but the sound won't. I can go into the restore drivers section and it fixes it, but every time I restart or turn on the laptop I have to do it again. Does anyone have a solution to fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The driver I have for it is SigmaTel Audio Driver v6.10.5580.0-T&T-SR 32/64-bit

Have you tried completely uninstall the driver and re-install it, using the one direct from the Gateway site?

This way you can eliminate the chance that the notebook looks at a "wrong" version of the driver at start, taking it from a cache somewhere.

    cheers ...

Is there anything showing up in the event or performance logs that might indicate why the driver keeps disappearing?

I will try that. When it is reformatting, it says the audio driver may not work, but before I can read the rest, it goes to the next drivers.
