    Frequent System Hang

    I just formatted my laptop a few weeks ago and right now, my computer hangs every now and then and i have to force shutdown a few times each day..the reason for it to hang is unclear, i've checked for virus and harware faults but yield nothing...can anyone tell me why this is happening because i am afraid that fprce shutting down may damage my laptop? thanks....

    I suppose your OS is Windows XP.
    Have you tried re-installing the video drivers ?
    Did you install strange or old programs ?

    Did you quickly get all the patches and updates onto your machine when you reinstalled? Otherwise you might have caught a dose of worms as soon as you connected to the www.

    This may be related to Windows Updates. I had a similar issue. Basically, everytime I would run Microsoft Update, my system would go to 100% CPU, and would be unusable. I fixed the issue, but not in the way MS suggests. I had to re-install the Windows Update .dll. I would first check here:
