As the title suggests, Windows is at it yet again. My problem is the following.

1 - Logging into my account (Admin) freezes up my computer.
2 - I have documents in My Documents that I absolutely need for classes, but which I cannot obtain because of the freezing issue.

The weird part is...the login that I let the rest of the family use for access to my computer works perfectly fine, no freezing or whatsoever. And of course it denies me access into my own folders from their accounts. I have tried repairing windows, hooking the HD up to my other computer and it still denies me access.

I don't mind doing a fresh reformat as long as I can get those files first... Calling in all the nerds please :) !

Have you tried safe mode? It sounds like your account is loading a program into memory that your family's account isnt, and that is causing your issue...

One of my superiors at work had this problem in the spring. Some file got corrupt in his user profile, so what I did to fix it was log in as Administrator, make a new account, and copy over all the data from his old account's my documents (don't copy the whole user folder, the corrupt file will get copied and cause the new profile to freeze on login too). If you have the 'private' folders option selected for your profile in windows, you can change it, its just a pain in the ass and i havent done it enough to feel confident giving you directions for it.

You'll have to grant yourself permissions for the folders in question though. That can be sort of tricky.
