In a few days I'll be placing my order for an Inspiron 9100, and one of the first things I intend to do once it arrives is format and do a fresh install of XP Pro (it's coming with XP Home installed).

I've done this sort of thing on my desktop before, but am wary about rushing into it for my laptop... so, could someone do me a favour and list the steps involved in this, or point me towards a guide that does the same? And are there any particular mistakes I should be wary of making?

Make sure you have all the drivers you will need before you do this. Also, make sure that if you do screw it up you have the install cd for windows that it came with.
