    Hello everybody,
I've stumbled upon a new problem which I cannot explain...

If I have a few flash video files in a folder and highlight them my Explorer under Windows Vista causes an error and crashes... this has not happened before...

    Vista Business 32 Bit

(I do run SAS on here and it reallocated filetypes... although its still allocated to RealPlayer)

First Try Disabling Thumbnails preview and see if its still crashing , this might happen because Vista is trying to create a thumbnails preview of the video and it couldn't.

I haven't had the problem before in Vista... so it shouldn't be the cause - also, I like the preview, but I give it a try to see what happens.

    Edit:
    Yes, it worked.

And now I know what happened.

Before I didn't have the miniature view!

    Thank you very much :)

(I was worried something in the registry is messed up)

PS: can't give you rep now - but I've got to remember to do so tomorrow

NP mate :D if you want to have thumbnails preview yet don't want explorer to crash then try unregistering all flv based filters and try out FFdshow or Klite

I'v switched off thumbnails for video folders... that should do the trick.

flv based filers means? Getting rid of the association between real player and flas video?

About the software - the less I run the better for my syste really... so if I can help it... I'd rather not instal stuff.

You can disable thumbnails just for video folders, that's enough :)

    Ok... small update.

I though, maybe it would be good to instal fddshow - well, it doesn't solve the problem... :(

(I am perfectly happy with no thumbnails, but just to let you know.

I didn't say it would solve the problem :D it will prevent futures similar issue from occurring :p and btw to rectify the issue you need disable the faulty Directshow filter which is now responsible for Playing FLV files

use either CCCP Insurgent or Gspot to find and disable it

    Thanks.
Gspot runs without isntallation, can't seem to find any errors, I'll have to have a closer look though.

CCCP Insurgent - needs an installation... :(

insurgent needs a installation ?? thats odd for me its just a EXE file

anyway just open Gspot > System > List Codes and other filters

then search for FLV video filter and disable it , now goto the folder which has flv files and enable video preview to see it crashes again ?

Flash 10 makes the whole stuff more stable - as stated somewhere else it also solves the firefox problem - but if you move files, this happens...
