On firefox, sometimes a website will just plain stop loading and I can't load it until i exit the firefox process via task manager. This is not happening in internet explorer.

    Any help?

I have noticed the same thing as well recently. It only happens to me after I have had firefox open for a long time (couple of hours atleast) and multiple tabs are open. Then as you said webpages will stop loading and the only way to fix it is to close firefox and reopen it.

What version of Firefox are you using? What plugins? I'm using the latest version and haven't had that happen to me.

I am using the latest version and the only extension I have is adblock plus, as for plugins nothing out of the ordinary silver light, flash player, java etc.

I concur. Something is not going well with this 3.5.1 version. I am trying to pin-point it but no luck so far. Restart or clear the cache fixes the hanging and hesitation on my Gateway 64 bits.

    cheers ...

No problems here. My install of 3.5.1 hasn't caused any websites to "be fail" yet. ;)

I've had this happen as well, but it happened before 3.5.1

Does it happen when you run in safe mode?

You can try making a new Firefox profile (see Managing profiles). If that works, you can get your bookmarks and passwords into the new profile by following the instructions in the Transferring data to a new profile (MozillaZine KB) article.

Users have reported making a profile works, but still mostly inconclusive at this point. Reports have been made, the Mozilla team appears to be working on it.

Many websites that are forums, i.e. people online talking to each other, firefox likes to freeze on me a lot. It doesn't technically freeze. It just stops loading the website, anything else works fine other than forum type websites. This also causes firefox to use 90%+ of my cpu, which causes everything else to slow down. I then have to close the process manually via task manager.

I've been forced to switch to IE8, and now have downloaded google chrome. Anybody want to explain to me why firefox is bugging out on me so badly?

Your OS? Up to date (Flash)?

Try a re-(clean) install of FF latest version?

No, I don't experience any issues with FF.

    cheers ...

I know you've uninstalled Firefox already, but just in case you are still wondering what the problem is; it may have been due to your anti-virus software (specifically Norton/Symantec if you're using that). The recent FF update caused slowdowns for some Norton Internet Security users, but that was solved as zfactor on this post found a recent hotfix from Norton which you can get here.

However, if you weren't using Norton, you may want to check your anti-virus software for any updates for problems caused by the new version of FF.

My Internet connection failed while surfing with FF3.5.1 both on W7 And Vista. So I suspect this due to something related to FF3.5.1 and having no problems with IE8.
