But Chrome can? In fact, firefox CAN connect to the internet, but every 3 seconds I get a prompt asking me how I want to connect to the internet.

About 3 months ago I got cable internet. I had been using a sprint mobile broadband card for the last few years. But, I ditched that when I got a new phone. Ever since, I got the prompt. I switched to chrome just to see if it would connect without a problem - it does.

If i open firefox - i get the prompt asking me how i want to connect - i hit cancel - and the page loads just fine, then, 3 seconds later - i get the prompt again.

I get error code 678. Firefox tries to connect through the WAN Miniport (PPPOE). When I click on network connections, I see that the Local Area Network is connected.

How can I configure firefox to connect through the LAN? Or generally, how can i fix this?

Possibly dumb answer, but have you checked whether or not there was a proxy set up from when you using the mobile card?
