For the past few months firefox has had a problem playing video (especially with youtube). It plays 2 seconds and than stops, and there is no sound. It will not play any other video, but will play audio

Than, it has been crashing on me recently, just freezing.
I don't want to uninstall and reinstall because I have so many addons that I don't want to lose, but this is becoming a huge pain.

I am running 2.0.0.12 on windows XP Media Center Edition, on an HP DV6000T.

    What can I do here?

I think that may be your only option. OR you can disable your add-ons one by one to determine if one of them is the cause.

Use Febe to backup your entire profile. It is more than likely an extension that is causing the issue.

    I dl'd febe and performed a backup
but what now. If its an extension and i backed it up, It will come back when i reinstall right?

By the way, how do you reinstall all the stuff you backed up using febe?

I also have some scripts called greasemonkey to download videos when i need to. will that come back with this febe program?

Not sure about the scripts. To restore, reinstall Febe extension, restore, ... You should go through and disable all extensions/scripts and try one by one.

i would personally first try to clean out ur codecs and flash plugins - uninstall them all and re.install the newest versions that u need - stay with one codec if u can

    cheers ...

i think theres a problem with flash player. uninstall and reinstall it. also reset firefox by going into the start menu folder of firefox and choose safemode > reset all settings. however be careful to backup your bookmarks before you do this
