The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Firefox 3 / Omnipass NOT compatible

    Omnipass 4 is not working with Firefox 3.

    Sometime ago Softex, makers of Omnipass informed me the only difference between version 4 and version 5 is the latter adds Vista support, so I assume Omnipass version 5 won't work either.

    If you would like to request that Softex release a free update offering Firefox 3 support, click here.

    If anyone know of any fingerprint reader software that does work with Firefox 3, please share it with the rest of us.

    Upek makes a software package called Protector Suite (version 5.8.2) works just fine with Firefox 3. I am using it now. And it's Vista compatable.

    Unfortunately, this version does not support the very popular AuthenTec AES2501A fingerprint reader.

    I have learned Omnipass 6 will support Firefox 3 and should be out in a couple of months.
