Probably the last version before FF3 is released.. this version of FF crashes a lot.

When u click on a video link.. the FF stops responding for upto 10 seconds,
When u open multiple tabs of youtube, the FF crashes.

    The memory usage jumps exponentially.

When i Rolledback to 2.0.0.11 all these problems were gone.

    Anyone with similar experience?

FF 2.0.0.12 lagged and wouldn't load pages for me after awhile. Though it was always fast at loading google for some reason. Yes, my system is completely clean. I decided to give FF 3 beta a try and it's worked for me. Others have had similar problems with FF 2.0.0.12.

I've never had a problem with Firefox 2, it was just slow for me, and being as adventurous as i am, i started using FF3 beta's. Never ever had a problem with any version of Firefox.

I've definitely been getting more crashes in FF2 than in FF1, not that it's necessarily a lot of crashes. Occasionally CPU and memory usage will skyrocket and it'll just kinda grind to a halt. Sometimes it's still usable albeit really slow, but that's a crash in my world.

It's really noticeable on my Pentium M where there's only one core for it to screw up, but I generally don't notice it on my T7300 until the fans start acting up under what should be light load. Usually have to manually stop the process; makes me glad there's a "Restore Session" function.

I have yet to upgrade to 2.0.0.12 but I would guess that it is your computer. It would be normal for there to be a jump in resource usage as tabs increase, particularly for videos; I do find it tends to clog up my notebook if I open too many tabs, but I that is expected. Will upgrade and see if if there's any noticeable difference.

I had FF2 and it ran fine on 2GB of RAM. I even disabled the paging file.

I'm looking forward to the final release of FF3 though. :D

I would consider a computer-specific fault if it didn't occur on all three of my machines. Furthermore, this isn't the linear increase in resource consumption you see with opening more and more tabs (and yes, even on a normal basis, FF is pretty bad with resource management), but rather a full load on one CPU core with like five to six tabs.

Either way, I wouldn't consider this a "disaster"; they just have some bugs to work out.

Besides the ability to restore sessions, I miss FF 1.5. That version was rock solid.

That's interesting, never seen any to quite that extent but, come to think of it, there does seem to be a sudden lag whenever I go beyond a certain freshold. No idea if it's related.

It's mainly only security improvements but that is also reason enough to upgrade.
Yes, Firefox 3 is a lot better than Firefox 2, especially the speed.

I tried FF3 and found little difference, other than extensions not working. There were some nice touches, but nothing to write home about.

Are you kidding me? Did you really try it or did you just read some random gripe off of Google?

Firefox 3 is insanely faster than Firefox 2, not to mention IE7. The memory usage has dropped out of the sky and is now on the ground.

The GUI has changed to be more OS integrated, the bookmarks are a lot better, the navigation bar url feature is one of my favorite ones, where you enter the partial name of a website and you find it instead of searching a long list like in Firefox 2, it's a lot more web compliant, loads so much faster on cold boot and warm, better tab managing, and so much more.

Nope, I really did download and install the beta on my laptop.

Speed, except when at the extremes, has never been something I find much noticeable in a browser. Memory usage likewise, probably because I bought a machine with plenty of RAM I have yet to hog all of it.

GUI is similar, a bit flashier. Didn't see all about the bookmarks, will have to go back and have another look at them later. Address bar could be useful, but it wasn't something I put to much use (I know or bookmark most of my important addresses. Web compliancy is always nice. Didn't do many cold-boots, mainly because of the snail's pace of previous versions. Don't get me wrong, FF3 is a good update to an already string browser, but I didn't find anything revolutionary. Perhaps I should have a longer play with it before making a full judgement.

FireFox can use a lot of RAM (of course, I often have 1-3 windows open with half a dozen tabs in each, with 250MB of RAM in use). However, I have never had instability issues with any 2.x full release, and I haven't done a clean install since 2.x.x.3.

If you're truly having issues, I'd export your favorites, uninstall, reinstall, then import them again.

Also, take a look at what add-ons you're using. Some add-ons can use up a lot of memory, and not every one of them is stable. Try looking for the latest version of the add-ons you use, and perhaps installing them one by one over a period of a week or so to make sure none of them are causing your problems. Make sure your Java JRE and Flash plugins are also at the latest versions if you use them.

I like FF 3 better 2, other than (1) occasionally it totally freezes up, to the point I have to reboot, and (2) I'm not completely used to the new search algorithm when entering the names of web sites.

I have Firefox 2.0.0.12, I have had similar problems, I thought I had isolated it to Java. Since I have Vista x64, I had to install both the x64 and x86 version of Java, and it was working for a while, but now I'm having problems again (After a clean install).

It seems to me that pages that run off javascript are the ones giving me problems. ESPN.COM, this page, Lifehacker, and various others.

If anyone of you can confirm/duplicate this behavior, we may be on to something.

    Cheers

    EDIT/UPDATE:
I uninstalled FasterFox, it's been lingering around in my bag of tricks for a while. And, so far the problems described on the first page (pages hanging, not completely loading pages) are gone. I'll keep you posted if my problems re-occurs.

    UPDATE 2:
Problems re-surfaced. I downloaded Firefox 3 and so far so good. I'll keep you posted.

I have similar problems with that version of firefox as well, my add-ons stopped working. As well as frequent shutdowns where i have no idea whats causing it to shutdown, no problems with resources though. Also when it FF closes on me and i start it up again, when i get the notice to restart last saved session if the session has more than two tabs none of the tabs load. this is version 2.0.0.12 im talking about.

Why don't you remove the part that says "Get your own sign at Danasoft.com!"

    LOL. :p

However, I don't think there's anything you can do about the "danasoft.com" part of the actual image...
