I'm just hoping it is a little more stable. 1.07 would freeze up on me from time-to-time... so far, 1.5 seems more solid.

The biggest feature for me at least is speed. It does load pages a little faster, plus it has a caching feature a la Opera, which means that the back button renders pages immediately. Also, I believe that updates will be much smaller from now on (no need to reinstall everything, just the necessary componenets).

The public version of 1.5 was just posted yesterday. However, release candidates (3 in all) were available before yesterday.

Basically, release candidates are similar to betas in that they aren't deemed to be stable/complete enough to release to the general public. These release candidates were posted so that people can try them out and report back any problems/comments before they do a final build.

I'd update to the latest version of Firefox just to be sure that your browser has all the latest fixes/updates. Feature-wise, the release candidates aren't that much different from yesterday's release.

mine loads faster. I haven't done much research on 1.5 yet, so this might be a dumb question. Did anyone else lose their scrollbars?

    Two improvements I noticed:

Forcing links to open in tabs rather than in new windows.
Clearing specified private data upon closing Firefox.

Yes those are some new things.
I see the bars on my screen.
Maybe it recognizes your 9300 scroll bar on the mouse pad and it automatically doesnt show up. Just a thought.

I'm not sure if anyone else has this problem or if it's been discussed in another thread... but I can never seem to use the scroll function on my touchpad with Firefox. Is there an option somewhere that I keep missing?

yes with the 2nd one...but not the 1st

there is a setting that forces links to open in tabs rather than in new windows in the regular one..i've done it and been using it..or maybe it's tabbrowser extension...check it out!!

I think it was an extension. "Open links from other applications in" was always an option, but "Force links that open new windows to open in" seems new.

So after using the new Firefox for two days, I've noticed an annoying problem. I get one of these every so often on various sites... nothing that a quick punch of the F5 key won't fix, but nonetheless, annyoing. Any thoughts on this?

I've been getting that "Server not found" screen *a lot* since going to FF1.5. It happens more often with sites that take a long time to download (myspace, gmail, etc) but it also happens surprisingly often just with Yahoo -- and on Yahoo it generally pops up almost as soon as I hit enter. Otherwise I'd think it was some kind of time out problem, but now I don't know. And yeah, as soon as I hit refresh, the page usually (though not always) pops right up. I'm almost tempted to go back to the old version........

There really needs to be a way to adjust how long it takes for the browser to time-out a page and go to that darned screen.
