I'd like to ask if there's a comprehensive system monitoring program around that can reside in the taskbar (for WinXP or Win 7), much like the iStat Menus ( http://www.islayer.com/apps/istatmenus/ ) freeware program for OSX. That program shows the CPU usage of individual cores, RAM usage (free RAM, RAM used per program, etc), component temperatures, upload/download speeds, etc, and is always visible in the menubar.

I'd love to have a similar program to have sitting in the taskbar. If such a thing does not exist, I would love to learn about any freeware programs that can do much the same, even if it doesn't have the ability to be always viewable from the taskbar.

    Thanks for your help.

Hi grbac. Thanks for your reply. I checked both of your suggestions. Looking at their sites, it appears they're mostly for benchmarking, am I correct?

No they are not. With Everest you can put temps, voltages, fans speed in the tray, it also has an OSD where you can monitor frequencies, load and lots of other stuff. Try it and check the options for sensors and monitoring.

Are you talking about this Statbar. I'm using it on W7, but that is not for monitoring temps.

Hey you should try Rainmeter, it can do what Statbar does, and looks better since you can customize with different themes. Rainmeter.net

    Thanks for the tip.

Unfortunately, it's not in view unless you show the desktop, so it's much like gadgets/widgets. Nonetheless, it's fairly attractive, so I'll give it try.
