    Hi All,

I havea question to everyone who has already done this or are more knowledgable in the area of HDD defragmentation.

My HDD is split into the OS and DATA partitions and I need to extend the first one by 5-10 GB. I want to use the inbuilt Windows 8.1 disk management and defragmentation tools to correct this. My question is, whether the extended part by moved to the beginning/area close to the OS section after defragmentation? I would prefer to avoid 3rd party applications unless totally necessary.

Since we're in the subject of defragmentation, if I need to do the same on an SSD, is there any need for deffragmentation? As far as I know how they work, the data is better managed by the controller and moved around due to the way they operate.

    Any insight would be helpful.
