Okay, so I got a new Lenovo Y410p, and due to some paranoia, I started entertaining the idea that my laptop was somehow used before I purchased it, or was a display model carefully repackaged or something...

So I looked some stuff up, and came across the event viewer application, which basically let's you know when your computer was used for any action. The log showed a lot of the stuff I've been doing, obviously.. But there were two dates (with all the events from each day taking place within a time-frame of about 10 minutes or less) that kept on coming up, and they were from way before I got the laptop. I bought my laptop a day ago (December), one small pack of events was logged in March this year, and another in September.

Now, just by looking at the March events' names, I can tell this was probably a check-up/initial factory set-up of the laptop. The events from September also seem to point to a similar thing, but I still wanted to make sure: does this indicate my laptop was used (in a personal capacity, or for advertising, etc.) before I bought it? Is it really normal for laptops to be checked TWICE after manufacture, with a 6 month gap? Should I be worried?

If anyone wants to know the exact names of the events from either dates, I can provide them, but I was hoping I'd get this resolved without having to do all that work. Haha

If anyone could help out, I'd greatly appreciate it! Also, sorry if this is in the wrong section. ._.

Well, when was your Y410p made? Some Lenovos have a date sticker on the bottom.

Looking at Lenovo's site, their earliest available driver for the Y410p is from June 13th. Wikipedia also says the Y410p came out in June.

What you may be seeing is the initial Windows image they use at the factory, which is likely for a broad range of Lenovo devices, which they made in March. They dropped that image on the Y410p in September. That is why you would see two distant dates in Event Viewer.

I check the manufacturing date and it was exactly the date in September from Event Viewer. So I guess all of what you said falls perfectly into place! :D Thanks a lot, man! :D That was a very informative reply! ^^
