Can someone please explain to me what this does? I have not found one bit of information on it.

I have a Gateway p-7805u FX and I'd like to disable this service if its not useful.

Uninstall all the Empowering Technology stuffs.
Then, you can get rid of it.
In addition, Empowering Technology stuffs are all craps and 100% rubbish as well as pointless and useless.

Basically, we should remove every useless Acer's software in the laptop.
However, there are some good 1 as well. For example: Acer Arcade Deluxe
Acer Empowering Technology and so on are totally waste of resources. Their main task is to slowdown your System.

the ePower Management is good though. you might want to leave it on , coz it helps a lot with power management. gave me 1/2 hours more of battery life and a cooler lappy. (down by 3 C)

What the? Do you know what is undervolt? RMCLOCK will be better than ePower a lot a lot.
Undervolt allow the CPU to have lower temperature(basically you can lower the temp by 5-15C) and the battery can last longer. Moreover, it doesn't lower the performance. In addition, it can monitor the CPU load and OS load as well as the temperature graph and many more. RMClock used very less resources, so, it won't slowdown the system.
    All Empowering Technology sucks.

chill darksilver, i also use RMclock. just saying that there is some benefit of running Empowering Technology apps. and as far as im concerned, the ETservice doesn't use much (if at all) processor power.

If you think they're useful, then, go ahead. I won't force people to uninstall them.
If you study them well enough, they're just repeating what Windows already have but with the Name of Acer(vary on brand).

    Yes and no.
Sometimes they cmpliment Windows functions - this is definitely true for Vaio, and may be true for Vaio.

(Turn hardware off and change screen to 16Bit at 40Hz on battery saver and on battery)

i find it more usefull for networks than what vista does and i find that the power plan is alot more customizable... but thats just me... oh and it also handles the erecovery which i wont need when i go to windows 7 but yer...

i probably wont reinstall it though once i upgrade to windows 7... amybe only the eNet and ePower if i can do jsut those two... the others are pretty useless...
