I'm on a Windows 7 64 bit machine (G51vx) and am having trouble with a WD 1 TB external HD.

I never had this problem on Vista (on this same machine), but anyways, the HD shows up in Post (and Bios) when booting, but I can't see it in Windows (not even through device manager or throuh Computer -> Manage). However, it works just fine when plugged in via the usb.

    Any ideas?

If you solved it, tell us how. It doesn't help other people who have the same problem if the thread just disappears ;)

Have you tried searching the manufacturer's site for solutions yet?

    run diskmgmt.msc

and allow the drive to have a certain directory name. ( D:, etc. )

    Then it will show up.

Thanks. :D For some reason it showed up today when I just plugged it in, but if it stops showing up I'll try it again.
