Hi guys, I have some issues with deleting folders. The folders are personal folders that contain music or movies.

Whenever i just got into XP, im able to delete them. After watching the movie, i tried to delete them but to no avail.

Restarting allows me to delete them, but later on the problem comes on again and i get the message that there's an error deleting file or folder.

I tried going to the event viewer but there isn't one log for the error.

    What could be the issue?

Whatever program you used to watch them is still open/not quitting properly.

Check the processes tab under task manager before watching a movie, while watching a movie and after watching the movie. Note what has changed from before and after. Terminate the process. See if that works

Check if any program, access the files, such as a song from the folder is currently on. Try to see if a media player is on in the task manager process tab and if so close it.

gerry and codebreaker: i played the file with wmp. it doesnt appear in the task manager processes. i still can't delete it. only a restart allows me to do so.
edit: i tried unlocker and it works.

explorer.exe was holding on to the file...any idea why this happens? i've never had this before.

do you still have a explorer window open? Because Windows creates thumbnails of file for preview, it can hold a file open.
