Hi, I recently purchased a Lenovo Z500, and the touchpad uses the ELAN software. However, by default, it doesn't seem to allow you to use two fingers to tap for right click, nor three for middle click.

After digging into the matter, I discovered you can make some changes in the registry to allow you to see many more options in the control panel, and I successfully changed three finger tap to middle click.

Despite this, I am struggling to change the double finger tap. I have made it so I can see the option in the control panel, but there is not a drop down menu as there was for three fingers.

Is anyone able to help me with the matter?

    Many thanks.

Changes I have made in regedit:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Elantech\SmartPadDisplay
Everything that is REG_DWORD has had hex value changed to 1.

    KKEY_CURRENT_USER\Elantech\SmartPad
    TwoFinger_Double_Tap_Showitem, TwoFinger_Double_Tap_Enable, Tap_TwoFinger_Enable, Tap_TwoFinger_Show_Item, and Tap3_Press_Enable have all been changed to 1.

    This is the result:

As you can see, the three finger tap is fine, but for the double finger tap, it opens up windows explorer to browse to a file.

Try downloading and installing the Samsung branded 11.7.8.5 drivers. Those allow setting two finger tap to show the right button menu.

Sadly I don't know where they can be downloaded easily. They used to be at station-drivers.com however it seems they aren't there now. It is possible to download and install the Samsung SW update utility and download the drivers that way but one have to enter the computer model those drivers are for and I can't remember that at the moment.

Thanks for the reply, but I actually managed to find a solution!

The problem I had was that I had changed the values of Tap_TwoFinger_Enable, and Tap_TwoFinger_Show_Item. This then caused problems in the control panel, not allowing me to see the normal tap. Once I had reverted these back to normal (the value of 0), I could see the option for tap, which worked as normal.

So anyone else having this problem, you've fiddled too much (just like me)!!

    Thank you!
IMHO Samsung driver is perfect (customizable via GUI, no need for reg tweaks). Works flawless. Link - https://yadi.sk/d/OjhS4tMXZYSmz
