You destoryed your recovery partition thus you can't recover from disk. Maybe partition your external hdd and put windows 7 iso content on the drive. Then install from there.

Here's an suggestion you can try if you have 2 USB port.

Get puppy Linux and put in on a usb drive.
Boot off it and then plug in your usb hard drive.
use the Mount to mount your EEE PC drive and your usb drive to copy your data from your EEE PC to your usb hard drive.

    Then reinstall Windows over again.

if you read what the guy told him to do, it involves using a USB thumb drive, as well as an EXTERNAL DRIVE. the USB drive to boot puppy linux, and the external drive to recover the files. In the first post the OP said he did not have any thumb/stick drives,.

-I agree with ntheo. I've tried what he said before and it worked. If you're worried about the data you stored from the hard disk of your EEE PC, you might really have to consider getting puppy linux and put it in your usb drive as ISO image.

-Here's the link how to burn in ISO image

-Puppy Linux doesn't need a hard disk for it work because it completely operates through your RAM. Because of this, Puppy Linux boots up fast and easily load to its user-friendly desktop. Hence, considering your case wherein your EEE PC's hard disk malfunctioned, particularly, its recovery partition, then should start considering to buy a new hard disk and reformat your EEE PC and preferably use its default OS version (i.e. XP).

-Here's the link where you can download Puppy Linux.

-Another option would be using a standalone recovery console which behaves like a windows installation disk in that it gives you access to the recovery console, but it has no windows install files on it. Considering that you already tried re-installing xp but still failed, you might have to opt using this alternative.

-Here's the link of the recovery console.

-Another measure is also recommended considering your condition but it is quite larger file. It is a 300 mb vista PE disk that will load on most computers and give you a windows like environment. Instead of doing what I directed above, you can opt to go to START > command line and run

    chkdsk c: /f

(check your PM for the download link)

Just burn the puppy ISO to the Cd and change the boot order to USB Optical Drive and it should work.

It doesn't cost much to go out and buy a 4gb usb thumb drive. ;)
